Power of the Mind

I just saw Jumper today (the movie where the guy can teleport) and it really got me thinking, what if we could actually do something remotely close to such a thing like teleportation?  That may seem a little far out, and perhaps it is, but it’s always interesting to question something every once in a while.  In today’s world we have things like remote viewing (which was used by the CIA) where remote viewers could basically pinpoint the location of a desired target.  Even things like lucid dreaming makes one question what we are really capable of.  I mean, think about it, our mind has the ability to create a whole entire environment every single night–one that we can actually consciously observe and manipulate.  Our mind is so complex and mysterious, why shouldn’t we be allowed to do things like telekinesis or telepathy?

Maybe we all can do such things, and maybe it’s our doubt that prevents us from easily being capable of these “powers.”  It’s hard to claim that we can’t, especially when not a whole lot of people have even tried in the first place.  We should be inclined to question our abilities; after all, we just might find something worth exploring.

Teleportation and remote viewing were very much a part of Christ’s mission as well as the early church: Jesus saw Andrew while on the hillside. Jesus spoke to the believers about going into a certain town to retrieve the donkey and even already declared what the owner of the donkey would say. Then there’s the most accurate record of teleportation in Acts 8:36 As they traveled along the road, they came to some water and the eunuch said, “Look, here is water. Why shouldn’t I be baptized?” 38 And he gave orders to stop the chariot. Then both Philip and the eunuch went down into the water and Philip baptized him. 39 When they came up out of the water, the Spirit of the Lord suddenly took Philip away, and the eunuch did not see him again, but went on his way rejoicing. 40 Philip, however, appeared at Azotus and traveled about, preaching the gospel in all the towns until he reached Caesarea. Noticed in vs. 39, The Spirit, took Philip away and then he reappears in Azotus; approximately 20 miles away. Food for thought
