Not the chain!

Tuesday, April 15th, 2008

As you may or may not know, Dreamport.net has gone through some pretty big changes, one of which was moving to a new server.  We are surely expanding and becoming something far greater than before.  However, we do have some slight issues to deal with (mainly problems that were caused by the move itself).  One of the issues is our change in directory for the site.  By this, I mean that every single link, except for the main page, that was used prior to the move is now invalid.

To give an example, we’ll look at the forum.  Here are the URL comparisons of the forum index page:

Prior to the move: http://www.dreamport.net/dreamportforum/index.php
After the move: http://www.dreamport.net/forum/index.php

It’s not just the forum, either.  It’s also the pages off of the main site.  For example, take a look at the “Techniques” page comparisons:

Prior to the move: http://www.dreamport.net/?p=tech
After the move: http://www.dreamport.net/techniques

This problem exists for everything (this too includes software links, image links to images on our servers, etc..).  Skipper and I are trying as best as we can to correct any faulty URLs, but we need your help to identify the ones that we’ve missed.  If you spot any, please reply on here or on the replica forum post (URL below).  Thanks for your help and we hope you enjoy the new Dreamport as it makes its way through the front door!

Also, if you spot any problems aside from links, please post here:

A new server

Sunday, April 13th, 2008

We are in the process of getting everything set up on the new server. We apologize for any bugs you may come across. Please let us know if you do experience anything out of the ordinary.

Getting the forum transfered was a an epic battle but I think in the end we overpowered the beast. We will keep you updated as we move along. Over all everything should be better here at the new server now that we aren’t sharing any space with anyone else. Some updates to the main page are underway as you can see. The functionality and user-friendliness should be improved with these updates. We are happy to have any feedback about anything. If there is something you see (or don’t see) that you would like to see different, our ears are happily open.

New and improved Dreamport

Saturday, March 29th, 2008

We made an announcement earlier this week that we were having some issues with keeping Dreamport alive.  Well, those issues have been addressed and some drastic changes have been implemented into Dreamport, specifically the forum.  To read more on the situation, please follow the URL:

DreamPort on the verge of closing

Monday, March 24th, 2008

In 21 days, the server that DreamPort is running off of will shut down and unless we pay for a new server, the site as we know it will cease to exist.  Skipper and I would really like to see the site continue, but there’s some essential facts to consider before putting money down.  Please follow the link below to read more about this situation:

Some updates

Monday, September 24th, 2007

Lately the forum has undergone some serious spamming issues because of our past policy of not forcing activation upon registration.  Well sadly we were attacked by a mini army of spammers posting offensive material all over the place.  If you happened to see any of them, we’d like to apologize for any disruptions it may have caused.

For the good of the forum, we have now turned on account activation again in hopes of getting rid of these annoying spammers.  However, since many are probably still registered with us, give it some time before all spammers are gone.  We’re deleting posts/users as they appear; we just have to wait until we get them all.

Moving on to the whole Blue Diamond Award status.  We have decided to halt the award until further notice for several reasons; one of those reasons being that the forum is in a hibernation-like state right now, which we plan to drastically change in the upcoming months.  We’re currently doing some background work on the site, planning out many items of interest that require some time.  Until we’re finished, things may be a little slow around here on our part; however, after our next big release, things will get much more lively.  With that said, we still highly encourage you the community to take part!

You’ll start to see things pop out between now and November.  One main area that you’ll see a change in is the Astral Alliance section.  The Shared Dreaming Project sort of declined in the past months because of busy schedules, but we plan to re-create that and shape it into something a little more active.  In addition, new experiments will be announced soon such as Psi Manipulation, Dream Incubation, Lucid Extremities, and much more!

These events are only a small portion of what is to come, and while we the DreamPort team are influencing such events, we want you the community to step out as well and start creating whatever it is that you want to create.  Unlike most other forums, DreamPort is really open to anything that you want.  If you’re in the Astral Alliance, post any experiment that you’d like without any permission at all and see where it takes you!  If you want to make software, create anything you want and post it for free in our software portal and we will spotlight it on our main page, giving you much attention!  If you just want to show off some random thing that you made, go for it!  In addition, feel free to discuss anything you want around the forum; we will very rarely delete off topic threads (we only delete spam), so if there’s something on your mind, go ahead and post away!  There are no limits!

The beauty about this small community right now is that whatever you have a problem with, you can get it answered in a very short amount of time by somebody who has good insight, while at other busy forums it may get lost in pages of other threads.  So, if you’re having lucid problems, or even non lucid problems such as asking that girl at school out or figuring out what college you want to go to, don’t hesitate to ask.

With all said and done, we truly hope that everybody warms up to DreamPort if they haven’t already.  It really is a pretty sweet place to be at :)

You can now comment!

Friday, August 17th, 2007

As you have certainly noticed, DreamPort.net is undergoing some major changes. One of those big changes is the new ability to comment on news posts such as this one. So for now on if you see something you feel the need to express yourself about, express away at the bottom of each post!

Software Portal Updates

Saturday, August 4th, 2007

The Software Discussions section in the forum has been locked down, and will soon vanish. For now on, if you have any questions / comments / feedback on any piece of software, simply reply to that software’s specific thread located in the “Software Releases” section. Any and all can reply, but only “DreamPort Developers” can post. “DreamPort Developers” is a usergroup that is open to anybody to join. Becoming a part of it simply gives you thread creation permission (obviously). The reason why we’re doing this is so that spam threads aren’t created, and so all questions of software are kept in their respected thread.

In addition, the Software Releases section has been opened to all of the public. Registration / Logins are no longer required to view or download software.

This new change is good news for anybody who desires to release their software here on dreamport. Now, anybody and everybody will be able to download and use your software, allowing you to become more well known. If you have software and would like to release it to the public, we highly encourage you to join the developers and get it out there!

That’s it! Enjoy!

Astral Alliance

Sunday, June 17th, 2007

The Astral Alliance has now been formed! What is it? Well, it’s a research group within dreamport that experiments with the unimaginable. It’s sole purpose is to expand your mind into areas that were once unreachable.

Not only is the Shared Dreaming Experiment being conducted by the Astral Alliance, but also many future experiments will be brought up into attention, such as psi related ones. By this, I mean testing telekenisis (yes, it’s real!), remote viewing (seeing from a distance), psi-balls, telepathy, and messing with probability (prediction).

We’re really excited about this, and think it’s going to spark the interests of many others as well. It’s time to venture out into other realms that we used to think were fake. It’s time to take part in the Astral Alliance. :)

The Digibook is here!

Monday, May 28th, 2007

The Lucid Dreaming Digibook 2.0 has arrived! You can find it embedded in the “Techniques” section above.

This new installment of the digibook series includes more descriptions and techniques. You can now find the most popular and hidden techniques out there! With over 20 lucid dreaming tutorials and information regarding dream recall, shared dreaming, and control, this digibook serves as a must have reference tool. So, go ahead and check it out, and feel free to give feedback on what could be done for future versions (such as new techniques)!

DreamPort.net is here!

Monday, May 28th, 2007

For several years, the art of lucid dreaming has emerged from the depths of a hidden society to the heights of the open public. Communities and books have been created, techniques have been invented, and ideas have been spread. In the end though, one can never get enough of learning something new and innovative that allows them to better attain lucidity. Better yet, people run out of things to do while lucid and perhaps need a push in the right direction. All of this has been the case for years, until now.

What if lucidity was easier than you thought it was? What if you had 100% control over whether or not you would have one? The answer to everything lies here. Welcome to the new age. Welcome, to DreamPort.net.

DreamPort.net is a brand new community created by people who’ve been familiar with lucid dreaming for quite some time now. Our goal is to allow people to come here, check out the site and forum, and get all the information they could possibly want with just a single click. Most communities these days have too much fluff to dig around to find out what you want; well, not here. We have exclusive software, created by BenDrummin58, that will tell you what lucidity is, how to obtain it, and what to do while lucid, and the best part is, it’s all 100% free of charge. Information shouldn’t cost money, especially when dealing with unlocking an ability that each and every person already holds.

In addition to the dreamport exclusive software, we also have a special section on the online forum where any and all users can post their software, which pretty much allows for an unlimited amount of information. And, if you can’t find a software that you want, simply request one, and either the dreamport.net team will create it, or any of the community members will.

So, check out the site a little. Our innovative “Techniques” section located at the top of this page contains BenDrummin58’s information digibook on lucid dreaming. You can use it straight from the site, which requires flash, or you can download it from the downloads section. This digibook contains loads of information on both what and how for a plethora of techniques out there, both famous and not. It also contains special information on dream recall, shared dreaming, staying in control, and more!

Anyway, we’re really happy to finally announce the site, and we hope it goes along smoothly. Enjoy!
