Software Summaries at DreamingLife.org

Friday, August 17th, 2007

Ben over at dreaminglife has posted a very resourceful article containing twelve different pieces of software (some including dreamport.net!) that all serve one purpose: to make you lucid. In addition to links to every one of them, he also provides quick descriptions of each for your convenience. If you’re up for the ultimate lucid experience, I highly recommend you checking the article out, and for that matter, the rest of his site; there are some really sweet articles there!

SadGlad with Dodo Bird

Wednesday, August 8th, 2007

Today’s spotlight is on a well known artist and fellow lucid dreamer, dodobird. His site, sadglad.com, features music, video, and software - all created by dodobird himself! In other communities, he is most known for his You Are Dreaming software (YAD) and his Daldom software.

The YAD program basically projects hints that you’re dreaming onto your monitor. Not only does it help achieve remembering to perform reality checks, but it also increases chances of lucidity if you ever happen to see your computer in your dreams. Daldom, the other program, is a cross platform lucid dreaming induction software, also extremely helpful.

If you’d like to see dodobird’s software, or read up some more on it, he will be posting up release threads in the Software Releases section pretty soon. In the meantime, feel free to check out dodobird’s site at the URL below (or for future reference, in the interesting links section):

The Lucidity Challenge

Wednesday, August 8th, 2007

A new and interesting program is being set up over at the Dreamscape Exploration section of the forum. Created by Ian1 originally, the “Lucidity Challenge” is pretty much an aid to help boost motivation for lucid dreaming.

Here’s how it goes: There’s a task manager and ten applicants. The task manager chooses a certain task related to lucid dreaming (like flying to the moon or something), and it is the job of the ten others to try and achieve that task. Points are awarded for various aspects of completing the task (say you didn’t reach the moon, but you still flew; you would still acquire points), and obviously whoever ends up with the most wins and becomes the next task manager. For this round, the task manager is Nachician.

Anyway, the program itself is awesome, and if you wish to be a part of it this go around, you better hurry up and sign up over at the thread! There can only be a maximum of 10 opponents, and slots have already started to fill. For more details on this project and how to sign up, click the link below:

Software Portal Updates

Saturday, August 4th, 2007

The Software Discussions section in the forum has been locked down, and will soon vanish. For now on, if you have any questions / comments / feedback on any piece of software, simply reply to that software’s specific thread located in the “Software Releases” section. Any and all can reply, but only “DreamPort Developers” can post. “DreamPort Developers” is a usergroup that is open to anybody to join. Becoming a part of it simply gives you thread creation permission (obviously). The reason why we’re doing this is so that spam threads aren’t created, and so all questions of software are kept in their respected thread.

In addition, the Software Releases section has been opened to all of the public. Registration / Logins are no longer required to view or download software.

This new change is good news for anybody who desires to release their software here on dreamport. Now, anybody and everybody will be able to download and use your software, allowing you to become more well known. If you have software and would like to release it to the public, we highly encourage you to join the developers and get it out there!

That’s it! Enjoy!
