The Blue Diamond Award

Sunday, June 24th, 2007

DreamPort.net is proud to announce the DreamPort Blue Diamond Award System. This system is specifically for the community’s most obliging and compassionate members in recognition of their constant helpful behaviors towards others. It is our pleasure to hand out these awards of honor to such people; it’s in fact the very representation of our gratitude. So to all future receivers of this award, we encourage you to represent it with all you can; you’ve sure deserved it. To read more about how the Blue Diamond Award System works, click here.

It is with great privilege to present this month’s member to the community. This user has truly been a hero from the start, and has always been there not only for me but for many others as well when needed most. The list of his efforts goes on for hundreds of pages, and I feel intensely grateful for his presence here. Being the very first non administrative member of Dreamport, he lent his hands in many situations including testing of the site’s software. He has given input to many situations of many different people, and has even been a proud owner of his very own dreaming website (http://www.dailydeluge.com/), which so happens to be one of the best and most informational that I’ve seen.

So, without further delay, I present the first ever Blue Diamond Award in DreamPort history to our one and only The Mad Hatter! Congratulations The Mad Hatter, I think we all know just how much you deserve this honor!

Project Lucid Plaza, the 3D game

Monday, June 18th, 2007

As mentioned in the previous post, the Lucid Plaza is the new Astral Alliance meeting dreamscape for the Shared Dreaming Experiment. While thinking of better ways to allow members to incubate the environment, the idea of creating a simple 3D game was brought up. How better to picture the place than actually being able to virtually walk through it and see it from any aspect? This obvious choice of where to go is now our immediate task, and needs to be completed as soon as possible.

Personally I have never worked on a 3D project, but I’m very confident in being able to do so with Microsoft’s XNA Framework in C#. I’ve created 2D games within it and have really gotten used to the syntax of things. Being novice in creating a full 3D game, I’m a little ignorant on who all we need to work on this. I know for sure we need artists and 3D modelers, but I’m not certain about what all else will be necessary. Regardless, if you think you’re interested, please click the link below and reply to that thread if you’d like to help. It’s definatly going to be a learning experience, but I think it’ll still be extremely fun :) .

Ian1’s Lucid Plaza

Monday, June 18th, 2007

Today the Astral Alliance’s Shared Dreaming Experiment has a new setting! Prior to today, everybody had agreed on a fairly quick and easy dreamscape to remember, Astral Pulse Island. While it was a cool place, we thought it wasn’t interactive enough, and thought it was too vague.

So, we have been turned to a new direction, Ian1’s Lucid Plaza (shown in the picture). This community provides everything that you could possibly dream of in the lucid world.

Within it there are portals to wherever you choose, there is a store full of whatever you desire at no cost and no wait, there are skill instructors to help you master any ability such as flying or spawning, there is a massive amount of food, and there’s even an arcade full of games, events, and even roller coasters. Step outside and to the other island connected to this one, and you will find a relaxing getaway environment with waterfalls.

This truely is what we’ve been looking for, and we’re happy that we’ve finally found it. For now on, this is the dreamscape that the Astral Alliance will incubate for the Shared Dreaming Project.

Astral Alliance

Sunday, June 17th, 2007

The Astral Alliance has now been formed! What is it? Well, it’s a research group within dreamport that experiments with the unimaginable. It’s sole purpose is to expand your mind into areas that were once unreachable.

Not only is the Shared Dreaming Experiment being conducted by the Astral Alliance, but also many future experiments will be brought up into attention, such as psi related ones. By this, I mean testing telekenisis (yes, it’s real!), remote viewing (seeing from a distance), psi-balls, telepathy, and messing with probability (prediction).

We’re really excited about this, and think it’s going to spark the interests of many others as well. It’s time to venture out into other realms that we used to think were fake. It’s time to take part in the Astral Alliance. :)

First shared dream experiment, tonight!

Thursday, June 14th, 2007

If you have not yet read this thread, I highly recommend you do so. Basically, we are experimenting with the realm of shared dreaming, or having a dream with somebody else at the same time. We have not yet started preparations for the official shared dreaming experiments, but we feel it’s necessary to see where we are starting from. So, tonight, or rather tomorrow morning, everybody who wishes to help will fall asleep from a WBTB (wake-back-to-bed) at 06:00 AM US Central Time (GMT - 5). This means that you must go to sleep at least 5 hours prior to this WBTB.

For more information, including what dreamscape to incubate, please visit the thread on our forum located below.

Tips for Dream Recall

Friday, June 8th, 2007

Everybody goes through a period of little to no dream recall, and it’s obviously extremely annoying; so, here are a few tips for successfully overcoming your dream recall dry spell.

  • Keep a written dream journal, even if you have a digital one. For some reason, writing down dreams for some people can really confirm to their brains that they do remember, and that they want to continue to do so. It sounds weird, but it works.
  • Get more sleep. Six to eight hours is a very healthy amount of sleep. Too little can affect not only dream recall but your overall energy.
  • Wake up ten to twenty minutes prior to when you usually do. What this does is not only wakes you up in the middle of a dream so that you can remember better, but it also gives you more time to actually write down your dream in your written journal.
  • Don’t drink fluids within your last hour before going to sleep. Waking up with a full bladder can affect your thoughts when you wake up. Instead of thinking about what dream you just had, you’ll be thinking about how much you really have to use the restroom.
  • When you wake up, try to train yourself to not move at all. Don’t even more your eyelids. Simply consciously wake up, and then go over the dream in its entirety before you do anything else. This will ensure that you won’t forget your dream before you write it down.
  • If you can’t remember your dream at first, keep a pen and pad around you during the day, so that when something does trigger a memory, you can write it down!

Dreaming to Infinity with The Mad Hatter

Thursday, June 7th, 2007

There is a plethora of lucid dreaming material all over the web, but very rarely do you come accross a site that is both irresistable to avoid and extremely realistic in point of view. One of DreamPort’s very own global moderators, The Mad Hatter, has a blog specific to dreaming and anything mind related, and it really does contain some helpful information. He is well known for his testing of various products, including dreamport’s software, and gives full reviews of each so that you as the user can get a non biased opinion on what exactly you’re in for. In addition, he puts up various interesting items such as interviews with famous people within the dreaming study world and explanations of commonly misunderstood facts about the human body, such as for sleep patterns.

For anybody remotely interested in dreaming, I highly recommend you check out his site. Who knows, you just might learn something new! ;)

Dreamport.net’s Shared Dreaming Party

Wednesday, June 6th, 2007

The DreamPort.net’s Shared Dreaming Party 2007 planning has begun! What is the Shared Dreaming Party? Well, simple: you and many others induce a shared dream and experience a lucid dream with each other in realtime! This annual party, started last year, is really an experiment to prove to many the existence of shared dreaming.

Now, unlike last year’s party, this one will be planned by the whole dreamport community so that there can be optimal results. This time you are the one that decides where the party is and what will occur during it. I highly recommend that you do not miss out on this epic experience, and I hope to see you sign up and give some feedback as to how this year’s discovery should turn out!

Now go check it out!
